The Embassy of Israel in Singapore was proud to host Open a Door to Israel, a specially curated exhibition celebrating Israel’s spirit of creativity. This unique multi-sensory installation was opened to the public in Singapore on 9th December 2016 at the Sands Exhibition & Convention Centre.
Held over 15 days, the interactive exhibition which was free to the public, gave visitors a chance to discover different stories about Israel that makes the country unique through nine themed doors using cutting-edge technology. Each door represented a different aspect of the country by breaking them down into categories such as education, culture, family, humanitarian aid, technology, diversity, etc.
More than 20,000 visitors attended the exhibition at the iconic Marina Bay Sands venue. Showcasing glimpses of Israel and its people, visitors were encouraged to view and interact with these doors and notice the similarity between their own lifestyle and that of an Israeli.
Sparking innovativeness, the installation also included a multimedia show on Israeli’s creativity with synchronized robotic screening technology. The visitors to the exhibition were also able to participate and be a part of the exhibition through unique interactive experiences such as; playing ping pong with an Israeli on the beach, witnessing a Hasidic traditional wedding, birthday parties, classroom activities, music scene, friends and family gathering or taking a ‘selfie’ with a virtual friend from Israel.
Open a Door to Israel was first inaugurated at the Tel Aviv Port in December 2015 before launching on a world tour. After visiting countries such as Italy, Poland, Russia, France and India, Singapore was the first destination in S E Asia. From here the exhibition travels to China.
