Best-selling American Author, Nicole Krauss once said that, “every now and then, you open a book, and when you close it again nothing’s ever quite the same again…David Grossman has the ability to look inside a person and discover the essence of their humanity.”David is considered one of Israel's most perceptive writers and it was the Embassy of Israel in Singapore’s pleasure to have him hold a sharing session hosted by HE Ms Yael Rubinstein, Israeli ambassador to Singapore.David, with much poise read an excerpt of his award winning book, To the End of the land in Hebrew. The English translation of the book was recited with eloquence by Associate Professor Kirpal Singh, Director of the Wee Kim Wee Centre in SMU. Expressing the courage, pain, and occasionally brutal truth of Israeli reality with strength and sheer honesty, Grossman shared with the distinguished guests, from the arts and cultural community on how he views the world. Through his prose, he has changed the way audiences view the world, and perhaps even themselves.Born in Jerusalem, David Grossman is a well-known Israeli novelist and prose writer. His work has appeared in The New Yorker and has been translated into thirty languages around the world. In 2001, he was awarded the annual Sapir Prize, Israel's most prestigious literary award, for his work, Someone to Run With. In 2004, Grossman was a co-recipient of the Bialik Prize for Literature from the Tel Aviv municipality. In 2007, he received the Emet Prize which recognizes excellence in academic and professional achievements that have significant contributions to Israeli society.
