Art is the fabric of our culture, forming our common ground as a people. Art, in some form or other, has existed as long as man. The Bible, considered by many as the best-selling book of all time, offers a canonical collection of texts considered sacred by major monotheistic religions. Much like art, the Bible has influenced the world in innumerable ways across the centuries, including fields like literature, philosophy, philanthropy, education, social justice, humanitarianism and more.
To celebrate Art and the Bible, The Bible Society of Singapore and The Embassy of Israel are proud to jointly bring to you Colours of the Bible, an art competition with this year's theme being Major Milestones of the Bible. This is the third year of our collaboration and we hope to continue to showcase the best artworks in the public exhibition being held at the The Art Space @ Suntec from 6 - 15 Aug 2016.
This year, with the support of the Jewish Welfare Board and our workshop trainer Ms Ruth Weizer, the Embassy of Israel and the Bible Society organised a Challah-making workshop at the Jacob Ballas Center on Wednesday, 10 August 2016. Participants from all age groups enthusiastically joined in making the Challah bread while learning about its importance through interesting anecdotes.
