​MASHAV has consistently made its priority the goal of poverty alleviation, provision of food security, empowerment of women and upgrade of basic health and education services. The formalization of these priorities in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) has only caused us to redouble our longstanding efforts to put Israeli solutions at the service of developing countries in order to further their implementation.

Over the years many countries have utilized Israel’s experience and knowledge in their own way, in many fields. Israel’s geographic location, in a region with a Mediterranean climate and bordering on the desert, means that its agricultural achievements are of great significance to different countries and, therefore, topics such as regional rural development, cooperative settlements, afforestation, irrigation and water, crop diversity, advanced marketing methods, fish farming, modern dairy farms, the struggle against desertification and many others are topics for MASHAV’s training and consultancy.

MASHAV, through its operational branch at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, CINADCO – the Center for International Agricultural Development Cooperation, offers practical, comprehensive and fast solutions modified to specific conditions and location. The MASHAV operational model has been shown to be relevant and in line with most of the points detailed above: an emphasis on the small farmer, focus on rural areas, integration of women, accentuating human resources training, and research and development.
