  •   Philippines and Israel Hold Bilateral Talks

    The State of Israel and the Republic of the Philippines recently concluded the 6th Joint Commission Meeting, highlighted by the implementation of two agreements on consular and agricultural affairs.

     

    The signing of an “Arrangement on Gainful Occupation for Family Members of a Member of a Diplomatic or Consular Mission” and the extension of the Agrotechnology Program by the Philippines-Israel Center for Agricultural Technology (PICAT) was finalized last May 9, 2012.

     

    Leading the diplomatic talks were the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Undersecretary for Policy, Erlinda Basilio and Ambassador Ruth Kahanoff, the Deputy Director-General for Asia and the Pacific of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). They were joined by the Ambassador of the Philippines to Israel, H.E. Generoso Calonge, and the Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines, H.E. Menashe Bar-On.

     

    Both countries affirmed their historical relations and are seeking further avenues to continue their excellent relations such as the enhancement of economic relations and through delegation visits.

     

    The delegation then paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Vice President of the Philippines, Jejomar Binay, who was optimistic of the potentialities following the outcome of their bilateral talks.
