Called GalMobile, the water system can purify up to 20,000 liters of seawater a day and 80,000 liters of brackish, muddy or contaminated river water and bring it to World Health Organization standards.
In a statement issued on Friday, Israel Ambassador to Manila Effie Ben Matityau said the turnover of the water system is a culmination of the long process of partnership with the PRC as both countries celebrate its 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Senator Richard Gordon, who received the donation as PRC chairman, said the GalMobile can be useful in natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, military use in difficult terrain and rural areas to provide drinkable water.
“It can deliver potable drinking water from any source, anytime, anywhere,” Gordon said.
The Israeli Embassy said the mobile system is a unique, independent, integrated water purification system that caters to remote communities, villages at crisis, and emergency situations in Israel.
Mounted on a jeep, the purification system runs on a mere 12V low voltage system, self-contained, independent, and automatic. It contains an integrated water storage tank with a capacity of 265 Gallons to 2650 Gallons and can be deployed in less than 30 minutes by two people.
The Israeli envoy boasts of his country’s high-technology design, which he said is a source of envy for many world nations. Despite not having any groundwater and with a low average annual precipitation, Israel not only meets its huge water consumption target but it also exports to other countries.
The turnover ceremony was followed by a demonstration of how the GalMobile works using water from the nearby Libertad Channel. Gordon led guests and PRC officials in drinking water purified by GalMobile.
Pass It Forward CEO Shmuel Weiss cited the importance of the water purification and desalination system in providing positive impact in distressed areas or emergency cases.
