The Economic and Trade Mission of the Embassy of Israel in Manila hosted an Israeli agro-delegation in the Philippines on March 30 to 31, 2016.
Eight Israeli agro companies in different fields met a large number of Philippine companies.
Israel’s Ambassador Effie Ben Matityau, in his message, says: “The Bible defines the land of Israel as the land of milk and honey. However, it is also a land of many extremes, with very limited water resources, scarce arable land and climate conditions far from favorable.”
“‘Necessity is the mother of all inventions’ is Israel’s formula to deal with the many challenges and the key to our development. Our farmers and scientists work together and develop a highly productive agro-economy with optimal use of water, very efficient irrigation technology and techniques, and unique management systems, all in an impressive production chain,” he adds.
The Israeli agro-business delegation consisted of eight companies dealing with irrigation, aquaculture technology, poultry equipment and supplies, seeds and propagation materials, and post-harvest treatment. The companies are Agrotop Ltd., Bermad, BioFishency Ltd., Eshet Eilon, Metzerplas Cooperative Agricultural Organization Ltd., Netafim Ltd., ShneorSeed Ltd., and Tefen Flow and Dosing Technologies.

The global leader in drip and micro-irrigation solutions, Netafim Ltd. offers a wide range of state-of-the-art irrigation and complementary solutions for agriculture, landscaping and mining. Bermad provides a comprehensive range of solutions and products for the irrigation market around the world. Metzerplas Cooperative Agricultural Organization Ltd. develops and produces agricultural and landscaping products and turn-key irrigation projects.
BioFishency Ltd. has developed an all-in-one water treatment to make highly-effective water treatment accessible and appropriate for widespread use in land-based aquaculture.
Agrotop Ltd. is a leading company for poultry and piggery turnkey projects, having a market share of 80 percent in Israel.
ShneorSeed Ltd.’s high quality hybrid vegetable seeds produce some of the finest fruits and vegetables around the world.
Tefen is a leading manufacturer of environment-friendly, non-electric volumetric equipment and flow products.
Eshet Eilon specializes in post-harvesting techniques and equipment.
Agricultural productivity and efficiency in Israel has grown dramatically since the early 1950s. Israel is known for having “made the desert bloom” by turning much of its arid land into fertile agricultural soil.
Despite Israel’s small size and even smaller area of arable land, domestic agriculture supplies most of the country’s food needs. Israel is also self-sufficient in the production of fruits, vegetables, and poultry.
