The Embassy of Israel in Manila is hosted its 11th Film Festival with a wide array of movies and genres. The Filmfest opened last October 24 featuring “A Matter of Size” - an award winning movie that tells the story of four friends trying to lose weight, wrapped in Jewish comedy.

Invited guests  such as those from the government, academe, business and the Jewish/Israeli community, attended the opening. Distinguished guests included uncumbent DFA Undersecretary for Policy, Ms. Erlinda F. Basilio, and Assistant Secretary for the Office of Middle East and African Affairs, Ms. Petronila Garcia.

The Ayala Center and Greenbelt Cinemas then held a two-day screening for the public last November 14 and 15, in cooperation with lifestyle website, clickthecity.com.

The culmination of the event, in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, was celebrated in December with an open air screening  of the award-winning drama,  "Aviva My Love;" "Bonjour Monsieur Schlomi" and the rib-tickling comedy "Lost Islands" at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium. Students from nearby universities and park goers were treated to  weekend of Israeli movies being shown for free.
