Today I was honored to present my credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis. It is of utmost significance for me as well as for my family, which is present here, to serve as the 7th Ambassador of Israel to the Holy See , since relations were established in 1993.
This special position is much more than classical common diplomacy. The relations are beyond just bilateral affairs between two states, since they also include a Judeo-Christian aspect.
In this respect it would be adequate to acknowledge that the relations between the Jewish State of Israel and the Holy See are based on a unique mutual common denomination and special connection between people and religions, sharing the same values, virtues and ideals, as well as unique bond and affinity. This special dimension is currently enriched by the bilateral cordial relations which involves a fruitful ongoing dialogue, cooperation and agenda.
In this context I would like to highlight and express my gratitude as well as appreciation to the warm welcome in which I was today received by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Cardinal Parolin.
As the new Ambassador of Israel I pledge myself to do my utmost to further deepen and enlarge these relations and bring them to new levels and heights.
Please join me now in making a toast to the relations between the State of Israel and the Holy See…
Salute
