Representatives of the Abrahamic religions made the statement in a position paper that they signed and released on October 28.2019 in the Vatican regarding end-of-life issues, such as euthanasia, assisted suicide and palliative care.
The term, Abrahamic monotheistic religions, derives from the Old Testament biblical figure Abraham who is recognized by Jews, Christians, Muslims and others.
The event followed a declaration on the matter which was presented to Pope Francis by Rabbi Avraham Steinberg following the last meeting of the joint committee chief rabbinate- Vatican last November.
The Israeli delegation to the event included Rabbis Steinberg, Arrusi, Rosen, Weis as well as Moshe Dgan, Oded Wiener and the rabbinate spokemen.
Ambassador Oren David accompanied the delegation and conveyed his greetings to the pope in the occasion of presenting the declaration to him.
