The exhibition introduces Israeli architectural projects from 1991-1998. The traveling exhibition that has been displayed around the world presents pictorial footage from private homes to public buildings around Israel.
Israel is a young and small country with a multiethnic population and dramatically varied scenery. Amidst all this variety, the Israeli architecture is in a permanent dialogue with the traditional Arabic architecture and seeks international influences from faraway corners of the world. At the same time, cultural and climatic conditions create the foundation for a particular native architecture.
Israeli architects with diverse cultural backgrounds provide a plethora of styles and solutions that form a unique reflection of a country and a nation. The exhibition introduces a topic that has rarely been displayed in Finland.
Encounters – the Vernacular Paradox of Israeli Architecture is open for the public 11.10.-10.11.2013. The exhibition is arranged in cooperation between the Embassy of Israel and Virka Gallery.
Virka Gallery is open Mon-Fri 9-19 and Sat-Sun 10-16.
The entry to the exhibition is free.
