Yeosu, Korea –The Israel Pavilion at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea is hosting special
events to celebrate its National Pavilion Day today at the Expo Hall. Israel’s
National Pavilion Day at the Yeosu Expo is all the more meaningful since this
year marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Korea.
Opening the
ceremony for Israel’s National Pavilion Day at 10:00 AM, Mr. Tuvia Israeli,
Israel’s Ambassador to South Korea, said in his speech, “Israel and Korea are two nations separated by thousands
of miles, but joined together by a common ethos and a spirit of innovation.
Yeosu Expo brings two nations even closer through demonstrating their
significant contributions to the future of mankind and sustainable development under
the theme of ‘Living Ocean and Coast’.”
Other notable
dignitaries in attendance include Commissioner General of Israel to the Yeosu
Expo, Ms. Yaffa Ben-Ari. Following to Mr. Israeli’s remarks, Israel’s iconic
vocalist David D’or will perform a 40-minute solo concert at the Expo Hall with songs encompassing various
genres such as classical, musical hits, pop songs and Jewish songs.
In addition, there
will be a 90-minute special concert at 6:00 PM by David D’or. This special
concert includes David’s duet performance with Korean popera tenor Lim
Hyung-Joo, in which the two “Voices from Heaven,” David D’or of Israel and Lim
Hyung-Joo of Korea, sing the famous original song from the Wizard of Oz’s
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
Apart from hosting
these special concerts, the Israel Pavilion will also screen a special film
about Israel at the Expo Digital Gallery for a few times during the day. The
film will allow visitors to enjoy Israel’s unique landscape surrounded by seas,
and see the sources of Israel’s’ innovation.
Meanwhile, the
Israel Pavilion, also known as the “Sea of Inspiration”, is receiving much
attention for its artistic interpretation of Israel’s advanced marine
technology, allowing visitors to experience Israeli innovations through an
imaginary underwater journey and interactive learning opportunities.
