Following the recent
foundation of the Serbian-Israeli Friendship Association in the city of Niš in June this year, it
was natural to establish Serbian-Israeli Business Club, with main task
to improve economic cooperation between the two countries.Dragan Milošević is elected President of the Business Club,
and the meeting was also attended by the President of the Serbian-Israeli Friendship
Association, Professor Dragan Milić.
Israeli Ambassador Yahel Vilan attended the festive opening
of the Serbian-Israeli Business Club in Nis and the opening of a branch in
Pirot. At the meeting with the Mayor of
Pirot, Mr. Vladan Vasic, Ambassador got acquainted with the city's activities
in the last fifteen years in infrastructure, economy, general development of
the local community as well as the possibility to improve friendly relations
with Israel through economic, trade and other forms of cooperation.
As part of a working visit to
Pirot, Ambassador of Israel, Yahel Vilan, together with the Mayor and his
associates, visited PU "Water and
Sewerage". After the meeting, they headed, accompanied with Director Zoran
Nikolić, to the village of Krupac - where
the water treatment plant was built ten years ago and equipped with Israeli water
technology.
After visiting the
plant, the Ambassador of Israel said that it reflects the good cooperation
between the two countries, which will be continued in the future through
various projects.
“We talked about development
of the city and economic potentials and concluded that we have a lot of
opportunities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, IT sector, water
treatment. Serbia and Israel nurture friendly relations, but that level of
friendly relations is not reflected in the economic and trade activities of the
two countries. I think that the opening of a representative office of the
Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Jerusalem will contribute to enhancement of the
economic relations. Opening of a branch
of the Serbian-Israeli Business Club in Pirot is also important. We believe
that all these activities will draw the attention of Israeli companies to potentials
for cooperation with Pirot, and that we will see many more Israeli companies
and business people here in the coming period”, said Vilan.
During his stay in Pirot, Ambassador also visited the
Memorial dedicated to the Jews perished in the Second World War.
