Consulate General of
Israel to South India held a panel discussion on the "ROLE OF LEADERSHIP
IN THE PURSUIT FOR PEACE", in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi &
Israeli PM Yitzhak RabinThe
discussion was followed by the theatre play “The Prophet and the Poet”. This
event was a tribute to two great leaders who dedicated their lives to pursuing
peace, Mahatma Gandhi and Israeli PM, Yitzhak Rabin. Tragically, they were both
assassinated by their own people, the ones they dedicated their lives to.
The
discussion revolved around the legacy of these two leaders, and what we learn
from their actions when educating the next generation. Questions were raised
regarding duties and responsibilities of leaders, and how they can help shape a
brighter future.
Consulate General of Israel to South India organized a

A Panel Discussion with two scholars: An Israeli
Prof., Gadi Ariav, & an Indian Prof., Vijay Padaki. The panel was moderated
by the Consul General of Israel to South India, Ms. Dana Kursh.
The panelists stimulated the audience
into a discussion about the life and death of those two great leaders, which
embodies many of the dilemmas/challenges that Indian & Israeli leaders,
nowadays, are still facing, especially when it comes to the pursuit for peace
in our respective neighborhoods.
The discussion was
followed by “The
Prophet and The Poet” theatre play by the Bangalore Little Theatre. The play is
based on the letters and articles exchanged between Mahatma Gandhi and
Rabindranath Tagore. The panelist, Prof.
Vijay Padaki, is the Convener-Trustee of the Bangalore Little Theatre
Foundation and the director of the play.
