The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Consulate General of Israel in Bangalore, Mr. Ziv Shalvi visited Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the month of July to develop the trade relations between Israel and south India.
During his visit Mr. Shalvi met Chief Secretary of Puducherry, Mr. Chetan Sanghi and discussed with him few optional joint governmental projects. Israel is exploring potential areas of cooperation with Puducherry, including jointly implementing a safe city project. The safe city project involves hooking up an entire city with high-end surveillance cameras whose feeds are available in a control room.

Agriculture is another area where Israel has expertise it seeks to share with India, Israel has developed a range of technologies and techniques to overcome its own natural resource constraints and the know-how is now driving modernization in farms across India. There are 28 farming centers of excellence set up under the Indo-Israel agricultural cooperation framework for various crops and horticultural produce.

Finally Mr. Shalvi visited the Auroville town and its famous Matrimandir meditation center (see photo) and met the multinational community there with its impressive social and eco-friendly projects.
