Celebrating Independence Day with “hope”

    ​As India and Israel are gearing up to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day, The Consulate General of Israel to South India was happy to observe it in a unique way. At the residence of the Israeli Consul General, H.E Ms. Dana Kursh, in Bengaluru Indian and Israeli children, the future leaders, gathered to sing together the national anthems of both nations, to showcase the strong bond between India and Israel. The friendship was celebrated by rejoicing the shared values in both the anthems.

    The mesmerizing voice of SaPa Music Academy​ students, under the tutelage of famous singer and composer Bindu Subramanium (who is also the alumni of “Discover Israel” program) and the Israeli children under the tutelage of Israeli Diplomats added more soul to the anthems. The “Anthem Boy” Yatharth M added vigor to the anthems, by being present amongst the children and lending his voice for both the anthems.

    On this occasion the Consul General H.E, Ms. Kursh said:

    “In my home in namma Bengaluru, to hear the next generation of leaders singing both our national anthems, together, is such a moving way to celebrate independence day. The meaning of the Israeli anthem- “hatikva” in Hebrew is “hope”. I do hope that the partnership between Israel and India will reach new heights. I wish, from the bottom of my heart, to all Indians happy 73rd Independence Day, may your nation keep on being “Incredible India”.

    While I enjoyed the happy voices of children singing the anthems at my home, my thoughts were also with the children and families of flood stricken areas, especially in Karnataka and Kerala. I’m hopeful that despite of all the ordeal, the spirit of Independence Day will bring smiles on their faces."

    Ms. Bindu Subramanium, the famous musician and composer, who is also the alumni of Discover Israel program, said:

    “I was fortunate to visit Israel as part of a recent delegation of young leaders, and what I saw in addition to a beautiful country and amazing technology was how similar Israel and India are at heart. The friendship between India and Israel is special to me and I’m glad that Ambi and I, and our young musicians at SaPa are able to celebrate this Independence Day with the Consulate, Consul General Ms Dana Kursh and Deputy Consul General Mr Ariel Seidman and their wonderful team."
