Gil Haskel, the head of MASHAV - Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation launched of the three-year action plan for the Indo-Israeli Agricultural Project (IIAP).
Haskel along with Consul General Ms Dana Kursh and MASHAV head, India Mr Dan Aluf inagurated the Centre of Excellence (COE) for cut flowers in Thally, Tamil Nadu.Thally, Krishnagiri on December 6th, 2017.
The Centre of excellence in Thally is the first Indo-Israel joint program for cut flowers out of the 26 active Indo-Israel joint agricultural program in India.
Israeli experts are visiting the Centre in Thally since its establishment in 2013 , sharing knowledge and technologies with the local farmers and educating them about the art of floriculture and various horticultural methods through seminars. Many new projects for the welfare of the farmers and training sessions for horticulture enthusiasts are in pipeline at the COE in Thally.
Haskel will also award two $10,000 grants to MASHAV Alumni to continue their projects in women empowerment and farmer empowerment in India.
Ambassador Daniel Carmon said, "The IIAP is MASHAV's biggest project outside of Israel, and it holds a significant portion of our bilateral relations. The success story of our agricultural cooperation is second to none, and it is only the beginning. We hope to see the same achievements in the fields of water, innovation and academia."
