Statement From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Violence Incitement and Palestinian Terror

Since Rosh Hashanah, we have been witnessing a wave of violence in Judea and Samaria. This disastrous terrorist activity derives from Palestinian incitement.

We would like to emphasize a few points:

    1) Israel is committed to maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount. Israel invests lots of effort to promise religious freedom in Jerusalem, including Muslims on the Temple Mount. There was never an attempt to change the status quo and any argument against this is a lie.

Israel is only interested in restoring peace and calm, as well as starting a peaceful political dialogue with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority.

    2) We are witnessing an ongoing incitement of radical Islamic terrorism, with the backing of terrorist elements from the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the head of the PA, Abu Mazin. Incitement in the media, on social media and in speeches made by various leaders use lies and religious motives to increase the violence as well as praise the terror executors.

Extremist Muslims have brought pipe bombs and other terrorist weapons into the Temple Mount, turning a holy place into a place of confrontation, with the ultimate goal of preventing the entry of Jews to the Temple Mount. Last year, there were approximately four million Muslim prayer-goers to the Temple Mount and as well as 200,000 Christians. In comparison, there were around 12,000 Jews who visited the Temple Mount last year.

    3) The international community must denounce these terror attacks caused by Palestinian elements, prevent this language of incitement and denounce terrorist activity entirely.
