Bolstered by the recent visit of Prime Minister Netanyahu and
President Simon Peres to the United States, support for Israel by
America's lawmakers has reached a new level. Motivated by the ongoing
rocket attacks into Southern Israel and the U.S. and Israel’s
increasingly tumultuous relations with Iran, Senators and Representative
from across the aisle have been stepping up and executing tremendous
leadership in Israel’s favor. Throughout the nation, legislators are
taking a stand for the State of Israel and all those who support it.
On the Senate floor this past week, Senator Johnny Isakson
(R-Georgia) along with and Barbara Boxer (D-California) introduced the
“United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012” (S.
2165)-with a twin version being introduced in the House, H.R. 4133. The
bill includes eleven recommendations for expanding U.S.-Israel military
cooperation, including giving Israel additional defense equipment and
services in the wake of American withdrawal from Iraq, offer additional
training for the Israeli Air Force, and allocate more weaponry for the
forward-deployed United States stockpile in Israel.
