This year's Memphis Israel Festival was another grand success.

The day opened with a 5K run.  Later, families experiended the sounds and smells of Israel at the official festival location at Audobon park.

Festival organizers Shep Fargotstein and Scott Baum were all smiles throughout the day coordinating contests, speakers and performances.

“After six years, we’ve got momentum now and we’d like to share that with other cities, such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Boca Raton and Miami, which all have big Jewish populations," said Scott Baum.

Christian leader Earl Cox, who helped launch the Israel festival with Baum and Fargotstein

“That’s really been our vision, to have as many other cities as possible doing this kind of festival, with Christians and Jews together, and to educate the public,” he said. “In our community, we have very broad Jewish and Christian support. We have every Jewish agency in Memphis actively participating and donating money, and we’d like to get more and more Christian organizations involved.

Festival goers were treated to an array of Israeli food from the popular native egg dish shakshuka to classic falafel and Israeli salad.
Over 13,000 people attended various events throughout the day.
