Israel's Defense and Armed Forces Attache to the United States, Major General Yaacov Ayish, traveled to Atlanta on Tuesday, August 26 for a brief, yet full visit with key leaders and policymakers in the Southeast community.
Upon arrival in Atlanta, Major General Ayish, joined by Lt. Col. Asaf Segel, led an off-the-record briefing with executives and top staff at CNN. Later, Major General Ayish met with the leadership of the Friends of the IDF Southeast Region. In the evening, Consul General Opher Aviran hosted more than 50 officials, community leaders, and key influencers for a dinner and briefing with Major General Ayish.

Major General Ayish hosted a breakfast at the
Buckhead Club the morning of Wednesday, August 27. During the breakfast, Ayish briefed
Congressmen Tom Price, Tom Graves and Phil Gingrey on the situation in the
Middle East and Operation Protective Edge. Congressional candidates Barry
Loudermilk, Greg Duke and Thomas Wight were also at the briefing, as well as staffers
from several additional candidates and members of Congress.

Major
General Ayish finished his tour of Atlanta by
visiting the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech on
Wednesday morning. The event was hosted by Professor Adam Stulberg and
Professor Lawrence “Larry” Rubin. In attendance were esteemed GT
professors, local attorneys, and Ph.D. students, all of whom engaged in
thoughtful conversation about the current situation in Israel.
