The Center of Praise & Restoration Ministries organized & sponsored the 2013 Atlanta Holocaust March of Remembrance. It took place one week after Yom HoShoah (Holocaust Remembrance) on April 14, 2013 at Grace Community Church in Marietta, GA. The theme of this year's march coincided with the US Holocaust Memorial Musuem's "Never Again - heeding the warning signs."
"The March of Remembrance is a solidarity walk & memorial service where Christians come together to stand with the Jewish community and Israel in remembering and honoring those who suffered and perished in the Holocaust," said event organizer Chris Alberts. "The event's aim is to honor, educate, remember & engage." he said.
Consul General Opher Aviran and German Consul General Christoph Sanders spoke at the event. Am Yisrael Chai & Georgia Commission on the Holocaust had representatives speaking and the keynote speaker was Holocaust Survivor, Dr. Eugen Schoenfeld.
Six candles were lit in memory of the 6 million Jews who perished in the holocaust. After the ceremony, the march proceeded in cold & rainy weather to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Participants carried American & Israel flags as well as banners declaring "Never Again."
Preparations are already being made for next year's march with Sandy Springs as the proposed venue city during the time of National Days of Remembrance.
