The city of Haifa, Israel's third largest city, is a symbol of religious coexistence. It is no surprise then that every year in December, it marks
The Holiday of Holidays - a celebration of a harmonious relationship between monolithic religions of the area.
The tradition began in December 1993, a year when three holidays - Chanukah, Christmas and Ramadan - happened to take place during the same month. The Beit Hagefen Arab Jewish Center
and the Haifa Municipality initiated the festival in order to promote
tolerance and mutual respect among religions in the city through art and
culture. Every year tens of thousands of visitors come to take part in
the colorful and joyful street celebration that combines art, music,
theater, children's shows, fairs, conferences, concerts and outdoor
events and fine Mediterranean cuisine.
Festival visitors sample traditional delights, listen to musicians perform and enjoy art shows and exhibitions.
