Rita Jahan Foruz was born in Teheran, Iran, in 1962. Her family immigrated to Israel when she was 8 years old.
Rita began singing professionally as a band member during her service in the Israeli army and
quickly rose to stardom. In 2011, she also became popular in Iran as an underground singing sensation, after the release of several pop records which she sings in her native Persian language.
In March 2013
she performed at the United Nations General Assembly and sang in Persian, English and Hebrew.
