"Global Nature, Local Nature", the wildlife photography exhibition, which will run from May 9 - August 25, 2014 at  the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv, features an international exhibition and an Israeli exhibition, which will be displayed alongside each other.

This is the second year in which the prestigious international exhibition of the Natural History Museum in London and BBC Worldwide, which is taking place for the 49th year, will be shown in Israel. The exhibition will be shown alongside the local "A Photo of Nature # 2" exhibition, an exhibition of animals in nature in Israel initiated by the Eretz Israel Museum, in Tel Aviv and curated by Moran Shoub. The two exhibitions comprise photographs that won prior competitions to which works are submitted across a range of categories.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year - International Photography Exhibition

This year's exhibition (WPY 2013) will feature 100 winning photographs which were selected by a panel of jurors headed by Jim Brandenburg, one of the world's most respected photographers. The images in the exhibition were selected from over 43,000 photographs submitted by wildlife photographers from all over the world. The exhibition, which is travelling around the world for a year, is the initiative of the Natural History Museum in London and BBC Worldwide, and is taking place for the 49th time. This is one of the museum's most successful exhibitions, which draws large crowds.

"The photographers in this year’s competition capture the dynamism of nature. Earth’s turbulent forces, the changing fortunes of threatened species and the dramatic conflicts posed by humans, can all be seen here. This year’s collection of 100 unforgettable winning images reflects the Natural History Museum’s mission to enhance understanding of the diversity of nature, to build awareness of the fragility of our natural resources and to inspire better care of our planet. Each image has the power to evoke emotions while conveying a scientific narrative." (from the introductory text to the exhibition)

"A Photo of Nature # 2" - Local Wildlife Photography Exhibition

This is the second year in which the Eretz Israel Museum, in Tel Aviv, has held a wildlife photography competition in Israel, in conjunction with "Local Testimony". The winning entries will be displayed in "A Photo of Nature # 2" exhibition, alongside the international exhibition. The exhibition offers the public an in-depth and instructive view of animals in nature, and presents a variety of forms of life, and ecosystems in our region. The pictures were selected by the members of the jury out of thousands of photographs that were entered into the competition.

The winning photographs were selected in the following categories:
Photograph of the year, Portrait of an animal, Birds, The underwater world, Reptiles and amphibians, Animals under controlled conditions, Nocturnal life, Invertebrates, Urban wildlife, Mammals, Nature kingdom, Families in nature, Young photographers, Conflict between human beings and animals, Animal humor, Ongoing photographic project, Video.

The local exhibition takes place in collaboration with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority and the Israeli Nature Photography Association. The category "Nature Kingdom" will be devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
