Throughout the years, the Machol Shalem Dance House, located between the Old City and the Western part of Jerusalem, in the heart of Musrara neighborhood, has hosted local and international artists, striving to establish a modern and professional cultural center for the benefit of the Jerusalem public.

At the heart of Machol Shalem's productions are current social issues and the complexities that emerge from the encounter between the various populations co-existing in Israel.

The center works to provide a professional infrastructure for artists, persuading graduates of Jerusalem's art academies to remain in the city and promotes Jerusalem as a free and liberal city. In 2011, Machol Shalem was officially recognized by the Cultural Authority of the Israel Ministry of Culture and Sports as a Jerusalem Center for Dance Arts.

Alongside its ongoing activity, the organization produces an annuel international dance festival - the Jerusalem International Choreography Competition and International Dance Week - which highlights local independent dance pieces and international cooperations, residency programs and artists’ exchange programs.

The third Jerusalem International Choreography Competition will take place from November 26-28, 2015. MSDH is seeking original works which challenge the borders of choreography as the moving-body oriented performing discipline. Applications must be submitted by July 30, 2015.

The competition will take place during Jerusalem International Dance Week 2015 (30 November - 2 December 2015) - a weeklong festival, with the participation of Israel's most accomplished dancers and foreign ensembles in venues throughout Jerusalem including museums and outdoor events.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MSDH will host some 40 presenters from leading dance festivals around the world.
