The Old Jaffa Museum, in cooperation with the
Israeli Origami Center, is hosting an
International Exhibition of Contemporary Paper Art. On display are the works of about 30 artists from ten different countries. The exhibit showcases the unlimited possibilities of paper art through workshops created especially for the exhibition. On opening night, the Japanese choreographer and dancer Tomo Sone performed "The Dance of the Paper” - created especially for the exhibition.
Visitors to the exhibit learn about three techniques of paper art: paper crumpling, paper folding and paper cutting. Alongside visitors from all over the world, Israeli and Palestinian children come together to explore and experience each other's culture through origami - the ancient art of paper-folding.
The Old Jaffa Museum is located in the historic Ottoman government house, which was built on the remains of the original Crusader fortress, with its beautiful curved ceilings, dating from the 13th century. The combination between modern art exhibits and the impressive ancient architecture provides a unique visiting experience.
