Tourists from outside Israel might not know about the Alexander River, but Israelis can tell them it's a beautiful and clean spot for a nature outing.

The Alexander Stream is one of the few year-round streams on Israel's northern coastal plain. Located north of Netanya, the stream is home to soft-shell turtles, which can reach a size of 1.20 meters and a weight of 50 kilograms.

Says Reuven Katz of Jerusalem: "We came to the Alexander Stream to get out of the city and enjoy the pretty views and have a nice time. We see that there's lots of pretty wildlife here; we saw some turtles. Sea turtles are not something you see every day!"

See why you’ll want to add the Alexander River to your next itinerary in Israel.
