You might think the largest weekly Scrabble club in the world would meet in,
say, London. Or maybe New York. But you'd be wrong. With 50 loyal members coming
every Tuesday night for the past 28 years, the Jerusalem Scrabble Club takes the
title.
These players take their word games quite seriously. Like chess, the matches
are limited to 50 minutes, with penalties for going over individual allotments
of time.
One of the longest-running players calls the weekly competitions "my recipe
against Alzheimer's."
