​Os nomes dos cidadãos belgas homenageados em Bruxelas pelo Presidente de Israel, Shimon Peres, vão juntar-se aos dos 1612 compatriotas já reconhecidos como "Justos entre as Nações" no Memorial Yad Vashem, em Jerusalém.

Muitas das crianças judias de então, escondidas e salvas na II Guerra Mundial por estes "Justos", agora adultas, estiveram presentes na cerimónia, além de outros sobreviventes do Holocausto. Também assistiram à cerimónia 22 descendentes de "Justos entre as Nações". 

Declarações do Presidente Shimon Peres: "The righteous amongst the nations are the greatest example of humanitarian values and humanity itself. The Nazi's were great in number and the saviors were few, but the candle of the righteous brought light to the world which will be remembered for generations. Today, we are all one family which wishes to see a world without cruelty and bloodshed."
