Memorial march of the Israeli Defense Forces "Operation Lightning of the Heavens" is conducted from 19-22 July 2021 in the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of Croatia and Hungary.

In Čakovec, Croatian and Israeli delegation attended the unveiling of a memorial to Israeli poet and national heroine Hannah Szenes, who participated in World War II as a member of the allied forces and who was arrested near Čakovec during her attempt to infiltrate Hungary and to rescue Jewish people.

Memorial march continued with the laying of wreaths at the Jasenovac Memorial Area in memory of Hanna Szenes.

The Jasenovac railway tracks once represented a path into suffering and death. Today, they have been reused and as such connect the Memorial Museum Jasenovac and the Stone Flower. On July 21, 150 parachuters of the Israeli Defence Forces walked that path, paying respects to their murdered brothers and sisters, as well as to killed Serbs, Roma and Croatian anti-fascists. Seeing them walk proudly, representing Israel in Croatia, in Jasenovac, is truly a historic moment. Watch the video:
