On the
occasion of the Day to Mark the Departure and Expulsion of Jews from Arab
Countries and Iran, a lecture was held at the Faculty of Political Science in
Zagreb (08.12.) titled “Jewish Communities of Unusual Descent: the Exodus from
the Muslim States” by professor Yiffat Bitton, president of the Achva Academic
College in Israel.
The
introductory speeches were held by Ambassador of the State of Israel Gary Koren
and the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science associate professor Andrija
Henjak, PhD, and after professor Bitton, rabbi prof. Kotel Da-Don, PhD and
associate professor Boris Havel, PhD, spoke on the same topic.
We are
honoured that the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Nour El Houda
Marrakchi, participated in the lecture as well.
After the
lecture, the audience had the chance to see the exhibition “Babylonian Jewry –
A Shattered Dream” which deals with the persecuted Jews from Iraq.
