UNDOF commander's sudden death

Maj. Gen. Francis Vib-Sanziri, commander of the UN Security Council's UNDOF force on the Syrian border, passed away on Friday during a visit to Eilat. Vib-Sanzri was 62 years old when he died.
Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, eulogized the general and said that "his experience and leadership guided UNDOF in a complex and challenging period that included Iran's consolidation in Syria and Hezbollah's activity in the area, which challenged the force's work."
Ambassador Danon issued a condolence note on behalf of Israel to Major General Vib-Sanziri's family.
