As part of the High-level Political Forum week on progress towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the State of Israel will present to the UN a detailed report on its progress in integrating the goals into governmental programs and national legislation.
In accordance with a 2015 resolution, UN member states must act to implement the goals, which include in the areas of improving water, agriculture, health, eradication of poverty and hunger, gender equality and more. Israel's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Environmental Protection are leading the government's efforts, and Minister of Environmental Protection Ze'ev Elkin will present the report on behalf of the Government of Israel.
After presenting the report, Israel's Mission to the UN will hold an event featuring Israeli tech innovation, with senior UN officials and diplomats participating, as well as other guests.
Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, said that "the goals of the United Nations are well-integrated into the Israeli vision, and their realization through government activity strengthens our position at the UN and in the international community."
