22 hands | 11 countries | 6 continents | 1 tune
“Music is a global language, it has the power to unite us together, by bridging cultural and political gaps,” says Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.
This is the message behind “United Pianos,” the world’s first 22-hands piano piece, created by the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN. 11 renowned pianists from 6 different continents are featured in the video, seamlessly playing together one musical piece to promote tolerance and unity through music.
The project was produced by CRC Media together with Israeli Musician Idan Raichel, and Composer Tomer Biran, who have created a special rendition to the classical piece “Peter and the Wolf”.
The video features pianists from Israel, Turkey, USA, Vietnam, The Bahamas, Germany, India, Australia, Russia, South Africa and Poland. These pianists represent the nations of the world, and include women, men, Jews, Muslims and Christians, playing together and conveying a message of peace and inclusion. Meytal Cohen from LA, known for her viral drumming videos on Youtube, makes a special appearance in the video as well.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon: “Music can bridge between gaps, connect between people, and cultivate a stable ground for unity and tolerance. This project was created with hope to reach the day when music will replace the sound of wars and disagreements.”
