Today, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, addressed the United Nations Security Council on the Situation in the Middle East. In his speech, Israel's Ambassador condemned the recent Fatah-Hamas unity deal. Prosor also said that anyone in the international community who supports the agreement is lending legitimacy to terror attacks against Israel.

Ambassador Prosor criticized Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas for deserting talks with Israel, saying: "As the deadline approached and courageous leadership decisions were required, Abbas deserted the talks.  True to form, President Abbas performed his distinctive two-faced, two-step.  When Israel tries to tango with Abbas, we find ourselves abandoned on the dance floor as Abbas waltzes off with Hamas."

Following statements from supports of unity agreement, Israel’s representative said: " All those in the international community that are here today to commend and support this unity agreement are, in fact, lending legitimacy to terror attacks against Israel. Hamas makes no secret of its intentions.  Its Charter calls for the destruction of Israel.”

or called on the international community to hold the Palestinians accountable for their actions and said: "The international community is quick to condemn Israel, but never says a word when Israel is the victim of unrelenting attacks.  It must stop pointing fingers at Israel and demonstrate real resolve – the Palestinians must be held accountable for their actions."
