Against the backdrop of an increase in anti-Semitic incidents across the world and especially in Europe, Ambassador Danny Danon and UN ambassadors from the European Union discussed the issue at a special meeting held Tuesday at the headquarters of the EU delegation to the UN. Ambassador Danon called on his European counterparts to join forces in the fight against the growing expressions of hatred.

"A radical and hate-filled minority wants to lead Europe into a dark and troubling era, and it is our moral duty at this time is to join forces and act together against modern day anti-Semitism," said Ambassador Danon. "Israel stresses to these governments the need to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism, which provides a moral and ethical compass. In addition, anti-hate education should be increased from an early age, and anti-Semitic messages should be monitored in social networks."

"The fight against anti-Semitism is a struggle for the very future of Europe," the ambassador concluded
