Israel's
outgoing Ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, bid farewell to the United Nations,
and met with UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon. The two spoke about Ambassador
Prosor's 4 -year tenure at the UN and the situation in Israel.
The
Secretary General expressed his deep appreciation for Prosor's contribution and
for their collaboration, and Prosor invited the Secretary General to visit
Israel again.
Ambassador
Prosor said his goodbye on his Facebook page, where he wrote:
"4
years ago, when I arrived at our Mission to the UN, Israel was facing a
challenging reality, and was fighting in the battle on public opinion. Today,
upon my return to Israel, our reality remains complicated.
Throughout my time here at the UN, I have always said that I walk the halls of
the United Nations, standing tall and proud, knowing who I represent and what I
represent, and I'm going home with this same feeling.
I have confidence in the resilience of the people of Israel in the face of
constant challenges, and I thank the government of Israel and its citizens for
the privilege of representing you at the United Nations, an important arena
that knows no rest.
I’m leaving behind, here in New York, a dedicated and professional team, and I
know that they will continue doing an incredible job. I wish the incoming
Ambassador, Danny Danon, the best of luck and strength to face any future
battles, and may he mark many achievements.
Today, as I complete my tenure as Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN,
I have more faith than ever in the State of Israel and the people of Israel.
And more than anything, I’m glad to come home."
