Position:
Assistant for Political Affairs
Job Description
The Embassy of the State of Israel in Tokyo seeks an assistant for
political affairs for its Political Department. The role involves contributing
to different domains including diplomatic matters, foreign relations, projects,
visits, and understanding Japan’s political landscape. The successful candidate
will aid in managing the embassy's existing contacts while fostering new
relationships.
Reporting Line
Directly reporting to the Political Counsellor.
Roles and Responsibilities
The position demands adaptability to evolving political agendas and
occasional support across other embassy departments.
Key Responsibilities include:
-Monitoring and
analyzing the Japanese political system and foreign policies.
-Performing
administrative tasks such as managing state visits and maintaining contact
databases.
-Help managing
and expanding the embassy's network across various sectors including politics,
academia, and international organizations.
-Drafting
background papers, summarizing meetings, and providing accurate translations.
-Assisting in
unforeseen matters as they arise.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
-Proficiency in organizational skills and MS Office suite. Willingness and to acquire proficiency
in new systems.
-Strong interpersonal abilities, networking, and reporting
abilities.
-Fluency in both English and Japanese, both written and spoken.
-Capacity for a self-motivated, independent work and
initiative-taking.
-Proactive, results-driven, and team-oriented with flexibility to
adapt to changing circumstances.
-Cross-cultural sensitivity and discretion in handling confidential
matters.
-Adaptability and preparedness to work beyond standard business
hours if required.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
-Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economy
or related fields.
-Familiarity with Middle East politics.
-Previous international living experience.
Recruitment Process
-Assessment of candidate's suitability based on stated qualifications.
-Shortlisted applicants will be given a practical written
assignment.
-An interview.
-Finalists will be invited to a committee interview.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position with a monthly salary approximately
300,000 Yen, corresponding with experience and qualifications.
Further details regarding benefits will be discussed during
interviews.
Candidates progressing in the recruitment process will undergo a
security clearance and must provide a certificate of criminal record from the
