Greetings of the Ambassador

Rosh Hashanah Greetings from the Ambassador

  •
    Dear Friends,

The Jewish Community in Georgia is among the oldest. Jewish presence in Georgia is told to be 2600 years old, and Georgian Jews have always played an important role in the public life of the country.

Georgia has always been a tolerant country where the Jewish community could flourish without danger or threat, without antisemitism or hate just because they were Jews.

Later on the former Jewish community left in the last decades to Israel, where they also became integral part of the society engaged in every filed possible-from politics to arts and from science to business.

This year we have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries. We will mark the jubilee in some cultural events here in Tbilisi planned for September and the coming months.

Soon we will all celebrate Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), Yom Hakippur and Sukhot.

For me and my family it will be our first Rosh Hashanah in Georgia – a real new beginning. I feel honoured and at the time challenged.
I would like to wish you, your families and communities all the best for Jewish New Year, Peace, Good Health and most happy (and sweet) New Year! Shana Tova!

    Yours,
    Yuval Fuchs
