Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman stated that the resolution submitted to the Security Council by the Palestinians is one more aggressive move on their part. The moves promoted by Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas) are solely for the purpose of harming Israel and are of no benefit to the Palestinians. On the contrary, they only exacerbate the conflict, worsen the situation on the ground and certainly do not contribute to achieving a settlement because, without Israel's consent, nothing will change.
FM Liberman added that the Security Council would do better to concern itself with genuinely important issues that affect global security and discuss ways to deal with murderous terror attacks such as those that occurred this week in Australia and Pakistan, or the events in Syria and Libya, instead of wasting its time on Palestinian gimmicks.
