23 October 2014: Israel Stands with Canada at this Difficult Time

Rafael Barak, Ambassador of Israel to Canada, wishes to release the following statement concerning the attacks that took place yesterday in Ottawa and in Quebec on Monday:

“On behalf of the State and People of Israel, I offer my deepest condolences to the families and friends of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent--may their memories be blessed. I would also like to wish a full recovery to those who were injured and I commend the security officers, personnel and bystanders who helped to mitigate these violent attacks.

Israel and Canada share a bond of friendship that is rooted in our democratic values. It was truly sad to see such a heinous attack in both the home of Canada’s democracy and at a site that enshrines Canada’s sacrifice in the fight for freedom. I would like to repeat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s message in yesterday’s phone conversation with Prime Minister Stephen Harper: Israel expresses its full support for Canada’s fight against terrorism, in which Israel and the international community are full partners.”
