Ambassador Nimrod Barkan hosted an event to celebrate the momentous occasion of Israel’s 70th Independence Day. The event was held at the historic Sir John A. MacDonald building in Ottawa.
The national anthems of both Canada and Israel were performed by Canadian, Adam Moscoe. Ambassador Barkan began the evening by delivering remarks on Israel’s continued success in innovation and economy, and its shared values and friendship with Canada that has been a great supporter of Israel throughout the past 70 years.
The attendees also heard from Canadian Minister of Public Safety, Ralph Goodale, as he spoke warmly on the Canada-Israel relationship and his past trips to Israel.
Members of Parliament, government officials, members of the diplomatic community, leaders in the Jewish community, business leaders and other invited guests, attended the Independence Day celebration.
Ambassador Barkan: “As I look around the room tonight, I see the great friendship between our two countries reflected in all of you. I see a friendship that is multi-partisan, rooted in shared values, cooperation, and buttressed by our strong-people-to-people ties.”
