Holocaust Photo Exhibition in Mumbai

  •   Simon Weisenth Center, Los Angeles brings "The Courage to Remember" Photo-Exibition

    ​The Consulate General of Israel, Mumbai along with the Maharashtra UN Association and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai presented a 4 day photo exhibition on the Holocaust History (1933-45), “The Courage to Remember”, initiated and produced by The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance (Los Angeles, USA). Mumbai is the 3rd Indian city to witness the Exhibition after New Delhi and Bangalore in the past years. A highly illustrative and evocative display, it comprised of 40 panels with 200 original photographs and some paintings.

    ​Stressing that Jews were the first victims of State organized genocide in modern world history, Consul General Orna Sagiv emphasized the universal significance of the lessons to be learnt from the Holocaust and urged people to acquire greater awareness and appreciation of the dangers posed by hatred, racism, fanaticism and brinkmanship. She assailed the Iranian leadership, legally bound by UN conventions, for brazenly denying the occurrence of the Holocaust and threatening Israel with annihilation. 

    She was speaking at the opening function, on the 6th of November 2012, at St. Xavier’s College, which was attended by Mr. Sumit Mullick IAS, Chief of Protocol, Govt. of Maharashtra, the chief guest for the event; Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of Simon Wiesenthal Center; Dr. Alfred Balitzer, Advisor to the Institute; Ms. Mohini Mathur, Exe. Chairperson of MUNA; Fr. Dr. Frazer Mascarhenas SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College; Mr. DR Kaarthikeyan, former Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, besides others.
