Public Health issue is very basic in Nepal and faces many challenges in this sector.  To discuss and address the public health issues, a series of training and workshop was held at Dhulikhel Hospital in the year 2011.  The program was a joint initiation of the Embassy of Israel, Dhulikhel Hospital Kathmandu University Hospital (DHKUH) and Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV).  This is only a starting point, which will be continued in the long run.

As a part of long run cooperation, different programs related to public health and community services will continue in Nepal as well as in Israel. This will include the trainings, workshops, exchange visit and study opportunity (under full scholarship) for the health professionals to exchange ideas, views and experiences along with sharing of technology and know-how between the two countries.

The Embassy has donated eleven computers to the outreach centers of Dhulikhel Hospital situated at different places as a part of cooperation between the Hospital, the Embassy and the MASHAV.  The basic idea of installing the computers and system in the outreach centers is to record and report on general health issues prevailing at that particular place/ community which will be the basis for interventions of health and community services programs in the near future. This is also a first step to future introduction of telemedicine. The computers were brought up from Israeli Embassies abroad and Nepal.

The Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Hanan Goder and Director of Dhulikhel Hospital Mr. Ram KM Shrestha, made an official opening of the installation of computer system at Bahunepati Outreach Center of Dhulikhel Hospital situated at Sindhupalchowk district.  Expressing his happiness to be a part of public health issues in Nepal, Ambassador Goder said that “we all share challenges in the field of Health. The embassy of Israel is proud to be involved in the ongoing cooperation between Nepal and Israel in this field”.

The initiation to organize a workshop on Public Health was made with the Embassy funds allocated for its annual Independence Day gathering.
