A Medical Clown training, held at Dhulikhel Hospital from 16-21 November 2011 was a program organized to celebrate Universal Children’s Day. The concept of Medical Clowning, introduced for the first time in Nepal, trained the health professionals on ‘how to handle children and their feelings’ during the most stressful moment for a child who must undergo surgery.

This was a joint initiative of the Embassy of Israel, Hadassah Hospital in Israel and Dhulikhel Hospital in Nepal. A highly acclaimed Israeli medical clown Mr. David Barashi, dedicated member of “Dream Doctors” had come to Nepal to share his experience and give exposure to the selected medical professionals, including doctors, nurses and lecturers, in the Clowning activities in the hospital.  The training, which benefitted 28 trainees, was very instrumental in bridging the gap between the medical practitioners and the patients.
