Basic Issues of Public Health

  •   Lessons Learned from the Developing Countries

    Following the theme of the 63rd Independence Day of the State of Israel around the world, ‘Social Responsibility’, the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu organized Public Health training program coinciding the 63rd Independence Day at Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel, on 10th May 2011with the cooperation of Hadassah Hospital in Israel and Hebrew University Braun School of Public Health in Israel.

    Following the theme of the 63rd Independence Day of the State of Israel around the world, ‘Social Responsibility’, the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu organized Public Health training program coinciding the 63rd Independence Day at Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel, on 10th May 2011with the cooperation of Hadassah Hospital in Israel and Hebrew University Braun School of Public Health in Israel.  The Embassy had donated the funds allocated for its annual Independence Day gathering to start this public health training program.  The public health program will take place throughout the year and will comprise of various activities including a National Health Conference, Health Specialists from Israel visiting Nepal as well as health specialists from Nepal will visit Israel to exchange their knowledge. 
     
    The opening of this program followed the presentation on ‘Basic Issues of Public Health: Lessons Learned from the Developing Countries’ by Prof. Elliot Berry.  Prof. Berry presented the reflections on Public Health issues from Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, Philippines and Nepal.  The representatives from different Health Institutions in Nepal participated in this program.

  • Symposium on Metabolic Syndrome and Nutrition (May 2011):

    A symposium on Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders was held on 11th May 2011 at the Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel.  Prof. Elliot Berry, Hebrew University, Israel and other resource persons from Nepal shared their experiences on Metabolic Syndrome, its symptoms, causes, risk factors & complications, related disorders, progress and challenges.  The participants appreciated this program due to the growing importance of this issue in Nepal.
