The program Vision Nepal 2011 was inaugurated by the honourable Vice President of Nepal, Mr. Parmananda Jha.  A joint team of the volunteer doctors from Israel and the doctors from Dhulikhel Hospital conducted eye treatment and surgery at the Dhulikhel Hospital and its outreach center at Manekharka, Langtang.  The main aim of this camp was to reach the marginalized population in the mountainous region and provide necessary help in eye ailment, for free, which is difficult or in some case impossible for the people living in the high altitude.
More than 45 people with eye ailment benefitted from the camp.  ‘Mobile Operating Room’ technology was used for the first time in such remote place to conduct surgeries.  The Mobile Operating Room technology allowed to conduct surgery on 25 patients after 485 prior consultations and a further 80 patients were screened at the same camp.  Several free surgeries were conducted during the eye camp which included seven cataract surgeries, three dacrocystorhinostomies with silicon intubation, one lid tumour excision and one lacrimal fistula exploration.
