At the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration on January 25, 2018, in Hong Kong, Consul General Mrs Ahuva Spieler introduced the candle dedication ceremony at which 6 candles were lit in memory of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust, among them one million children who perished.
In a special gesture this year, the event organizer
Hong Kong Holocaust and Tolerance Centre decides to light a 7th candle in
memory of the victims of the Nanjing Massacre and contemporary genocides, as it
was recently the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.
