Knesset speaker in Hong Kong

    ​Organized by the Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong, the Speaker and Head of the Knesset of the State of Israel and his delegation, Mr. Reuven Rivlin, paid an official visit to Hong Kong from 31 March to 2 April 2011.

    ​Among the members of the delegation were Mrs. Nehama Rivlin, Mr. Haim Katz, Member of Knesset - also Chairman of the Labor, Welfare & Health Committee and Mrs. Ruth Katz, Mrs. Mira Ratzabi, Director of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Harel Tubi, Senior Advisor.
     
    Joined by Ambassador Amikam Levy, the Speaker and delegation met Mr. Henry Tang, Acting Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr. Canning Fok and Mrs. Susan Chow, Group Managing Director and Deputy Group Managing Director of Hutchison Whampoa Limited respectively, during his three-day visit
     
    The Speaker had a joyous reunion with President Jasper Tsang of the Legislative Council who visited Israel last July. The delegation was hosted by the President and the Secretary General at a luncheon in the Legislative Council Building.
     
    The bi-lateral meetings have further strengthened the existing close and harmonious relationship between the Government of the State of Israel and the Government of the HKSAR.
     
    Mr. Rivlin also met leaders and members of the Hong Kong Jewish Community at a dinner hosted by the Trustees of the Jewish Community of Hong Kong and another at the Heichal Erza Kowloon Synagogue hosted by Rabbi Natanel Meoded.
     
    The delegation continued on their journey to New Zealand for an official visit.
